5 Reasons: Why Cristiano Ronaldo Wanted to Join Real Madrid

In case you aren’t a soccer fan, Cristiano Ronaldo, the world’s greatest player, is on his way from Manchester United to Real Madrid. Just 3 days after spending $98 million on Kaka, the Spanish giants splashed a cool $135 million to hold talks with the Portuguese attacker. Real Madrid just completed a disappointing season, finishing 9 points behind league winners, Barcelona; while Manchester United completed a triumphant campaign which resulted in 3 trophies. Some have posed the question “why would he want to leave?”. Here are my 5 reasons on why Cristiano left Old Trafford for greener pastures.
5. The Language: Hey, this move provides Cristiano with the convenient escape from ever having to truly learn English. It’s not as if it should have been high on his list of priorities and sure he was coherent in interviews, but you’d hope for a bit more after six years in England.
4. The Women: I’m sure this wont come up in the news, but it has to be addressed. Cristiano isn’t just at the peak of his game athletically, this is his chance to date the most attractive women in the world. Now he gets to play with the Iberian women again.
Something tells me he didn’t have much to work with in Northwest England…just a hunch.
3. The City: Disregarding the women, there is simply a much higher-quality of life in Madrid. Cristiano has made no secret of the fact that he loves the sun. I look at the summer season as ‘the time of year when Cristiano bares all’. Lucky for us, this will all be out of the papers now, unlucky for Spanish football fans, you now have several years of this to look forward too…
2. The Signing: Nobody can disregard the signing of Kaka as being another reason why Cristiano wants to hit the old dusty trail towards the Bernebeu. Ronaldo and Kaka will be the most devastating one-two punch in world football, and there’s no blaming Ronaldo here for wanting to be apart of what could be an historic run for Madrid.
1. The Dream: He has made no secret of his ‘dream’ to join Madrid. It was this use of the d-word that left almost every United fan in fear of his inevitable departure. He has dreamed of playing for Real since his childhood, and he has finally been given his chance. Cristiano’s departure is a shame for United fans, as well as for neutral, Premier League fans. However, I won’t lose any sleep seeing as things like the free-kick below will be happening in good ole Espana.
