Adebayor’s Decision Made; Wenger in for ‘the Hunter’

As we stand right now, Emmanuel Adebayor is ‘mulling’ the offer received from City. A deal that would land Arsenal a cool £25m and a new lease on life. Adebayor would move to a non-champions league side, while seeing his wages raise from £80,000/week to around £150,000/week. It seems like everyone wins; Arsenal get rid of their lazy, prima donna front man while cashing in for more than he’s worth. And Adebayor gets to play for money. Lets be fair, this move is done. Adebayor cannot come back to the Emirates. Two days ago, Adebayor thought this was too good to be true. He thought ‘they’re going to pay me how much?!’ Now he suddenly is conscious of how the rest of football will see him after the move is finalized, a money hungry git. While there are already hundreds of thousands in North London who have seen this for over a year, Adebayor’s greed will be center stage to a Manchester City crack squad who might just play the worlds first 2-4-4 formation next year. Either way, Adebayor will not be wearing the cannon next season, and for that we can be thankful.
Then we get to play Football Manager and start speculating on who will replace Manu. Marouane Chamakh has led the pack, but Bordeaux are apparently insistent on Arsenal packaging Silvestre (Sounds a perk doesn’t it?). Wenger doesn’t want to part with his number 18 however, so that deal appears to have hit a snag. Next there are players like Edin Dzeko who just don’t appear ready to move, this happens often as young players like to establish themselves before moving to a bigger club. Even if the Boznian were to move, however, he’d be Milan-bound. Then, the long-shots like Hoffenheim’s Demba Ba. To me, after the PR disaster that was Emmanuel Adebayor, we need a Klaas act.
It is believed that Klaas Jan Huntelaar, Real Madrid’s want away striker, could be had for around £17m. While quite high for an Arsenal target, this would be the time if any. Nothing like buying a striker for £17m and still making a profit for the week! Real Madrid have accepted a £20m offer from Stuttgart for the striker. However, Huntelaar’s agent has reiterated that Klaas is in no hurry to make a decision, almost beckoning other clubs to join in. Huntelaar would undoubtedly see a move to Germany as a backward step, and wants to assess everything before going. Huntelaar is not a dribbler, he’s not really a play maker, he is an out-and-out scorer. This is why he’d be so valuable. He isn’t even necessarily a scorer of great goals but we have dribblers and play makers in spades. To have a poacher in the box could be just what Arsenal have been missing. Not only do he and compatriot, Robin van Persie, get on well, but up until last January, Thomas Vermaelen was his captain at Ajax.
To give you my honest opinion, Wenger will find a way to sign Chamakh. He seems just the kind of talent Wenger loves.

Barcelona are desperate to sell Eto’o, and have been making overtures to City to try to revive the transfer.
If Adebayor delays beyond Friday I can see City calling the whole thing off, and going back for Eto’o.

I’ve heard from sources that Arshavin has been penned in to play second striker role… if so we have RVP, eduardo, Bendtner and Walcott to play off him…
But this worries me, as other than bendtner there isn’t a target man in our squad now…

The bid for the Hunter is 20 million euos – £16 M approx. So, we can bid that and have £9 M for a tall defence midfielder

He (Huntelaar) could do well at Arsenal. But so can Chamak if he gets a full season of settlement and guidance from the Boss.
Though I prefer Huntelaar right now. I will not be suprised if Arsene would buy both. I know, with his spending record it’s hard to believe such thing will happen. Certainly given there are other areas that need to be strengthening as well.
But imagine the possibilties here:
Two powerhouses up front Bendtner & Chamak.
Or Bendtner & Huntelaar with Chamak/Eduardo ready on the bench. And vice versa.
Or 2 poachers like Eduardo & Huntelaar in the box and Arshavin as a shadow.
Our midline would have a field day supplying such attacking forces.

Vermaelen has not been Huntelaar’s captain last time I checked. Huntelaar himself was captain before he headed for Madrid. Only after his departure the Belgian was handed the arm band.

what on earth are you on? that sentence was pure fantasy. calm down mate, players move clubs all the time, and often for a pay increase.
as for Huntelaar, would be nice, better than the bean pole Moroccan from Bordeaux. I’d prefer a winger though to allow Arshavin to spend the whole season down the middle.

Why are people saying we dont need Huntelaar? Ade scored 30 goals 2 seasons ago and 16 goals in a injured riddled season last year. We need to replace those goals. If we get £25mill for Ade, it makes perfect sense to get Huntelaar and pocket the remaining money for a defensive midfielder.
Put it this way, in the January transfer window. If someone said you could have Huntelaar, Lorik Cana & maybe 1-2 mill spare….all for Adebayor. Would you take it?!!? Of course you would!!! It solves 2 problems at once and makes a slight profit of maybe a couple of million.

The bull written this morning doesn’t help either as that has turned the City support off him completely and we were far from dancing in the streets at his arrival as it was.
The £150k is just ridiculous press speculation. He has been offered around 100k excluding bonuses and we won’t go above that. He wants £170k!!! more than Robinho! No chance! I see this deal collapsing and him heading back to you. There will not be a single City fan sorry as we don’t expect him to get off the bench anyway.

Surely signing Huntelaar would only benefit Arsenal. Especially seeing as he is cheaper and has a better scoring record than Ade and hes fairly young. Its good business. I am not an Ade hater, I think hes a bit lazy but at the end of the day scores goals for us. My only concern with Ade is his motivation as it seems to be money rather than the club.
Adding Huntelaar to our fire power can only be a positive. Also bringing in the odd big name has a positive effect on players like RVP & Cesc, showing to them that the club is ambitious. Look at the effect Arshavin had on the team! That was an inspirational signing for everyone involved with the club including most importantly the fans. The formula to winning the Premiership is having a bit of everything (youth, pace, intelligence, experience etc) and not just relying on youth that might reach its full potential. Man Utd have shown this time after time.
Before Arshavin, we’ve had no big signings since Bergkamp, most of them who we have signed have pretty much made their names whilst at Arsenal. I am not saying we should go out and buy lots of expensive world class players as I mostly agree with Wengers scheme but adding one more wont hurt.

I am sick and tired of people not being able to see beyond their noses. I can say very confidently that Arsenal’s loss is Man City’s gain. Selling Adebayor to them is strenghtening a team that has the potential of upstaging Arsenal from the ” Big Four “. A lot of people can’t see the goodness in a player that scored 30 goals in his first full season in the premiership and 16 goals in his second season ( half of which he was injured ). I expect Arsenal fans to clamour for additional strikers and not depleting a strike force that is not so strong to compete with the other big three as witnessed last season. Well, if his transfer to Man City succeeds, goodluck to him, but who is coming to replace him? Did I hear u say Chamakh? How many goals did he score last season? what is his highest goals scored in a season? how many international goals does has he scored for his country? Gooners think!
For people to say that when Arsenal sell Adebayor that there is no need for a replacement is ludacris. We must replace the goals that he provided as well as the dimention he brought to Arsenal’s attack. Or at least bring in a player with another unique dimention for cover. We cannot go through a season with the striking core of RVP, Bendtner, Dudu, Vela….cannot do it. RVP and Dudu still have injury worries, Bendtner is just….ahh he just really pisses me off and Vela is too young to take on the mantle by himself.
Replacing Adebayor with Klass Jan-Huntelaar would be a picture perfect solution. He’d have the same impact on the leauge as Ferdnando Torres I believe. As well as boosting the morale and confidence of the players at the club and on the pitch. Klass is a big strong proven goal-scorer who will SCORE GOALS!!!!! I cannot stress that enough! And his partnership with van Persie would flourish under the guidance of Wenger. I think due to the style Arsenal play and the talented, creative, and unique players Arsenal have Huntelaar would get ALOT of chances to ply his trade and put the ball in the back of the net. He’d be another Sagna or Eduardo like signing.
However, Chamakh, as we all know and can feel is the Wenger-like signing that we’d all expect. Some unknown player that we never heard of until Wenger uttered his name. Although his is a bit of an older signing his is still a bit raw and Wenger would relish moulding the guy into the striker he wishes him to be. He is the most likely signing of the two.
Signing Huntelaar would do 2 things for Arsenal: 1. Help us win some damn trophies! 2. Keep him from our enemies-like Spurs!
Hopefully Arsene does the unexpected this summer and chooses a bit of risk with Klass; but his calm calculating brain will most likely win this battle with the signature of Chamakh.

I have full belief in Eduardo as finisher, I even rate him higher then Huntelaar. But need more convincing to do about his health – Hopefully after more then ONE years, perhaps he should be brand new.

i have been screaming this point in my brain for so long through all our last games of the campaign i think that this formation cost us cups in fa cup semi-chelsea league chelsea champ league both legs manu when we play this stupid 4 5 1 against strong opposition maybe against weak yes.when4 5 1 is played if we have the ball we have to play and walk through the opositions midfield which we are soposed to do as we are arsenal but now we play 4 5 1 there is no one up front to to act as a diversion so that our players can walkthrough or cause hesitation thus easeir attack and opo defenders can mob the one attacker and he has no one to pass to except back.all leads to defencesive play as the opposition have have no wory that a ball can be played through the defence to striker to score because there 4 against one and it can hardly ever be done.when the opposition get the ball it is hard to defend as we are so crowded in midfield you find 3 people running for one ball as with more of anything it takes time to calculate and in football their is none so thus 3 peolple runing to the ball making mistakes leaving holes or constantly taking to much time to takle or run and close down or judge if they or their team mate should close the opposition thus making us a sitting duck for a good shooter as u have seen .in the chelsea league game at emirates di you not realise as soon as we brought ade on and chaned from 451 to 4 4 2we were terrorising them and they were scare and even thought we could beat them in a few mins from 4 1 down.ade is class and to if people wonder why he doesnt run around loads because when ur playing up fron by your self u need to be on the last man all the time because nearly only way with the team can score with this stupid formation is to latch on to a great ball through or over the defense and to do this you must be rready 100%or near to to sprint and if you have just sprinted to try and win a no cause or sprinted to get back help team defend or just some times win the ball u are not ready to get on to the ball i know im a talented striker let me know if any one aggrees because sometimes i feel everyones blind or doesnt agree 4 4 2 is the best and only for me but suppport any we choose none the less
i think it will be a huge mistake if ade goes without wenger buying a replacement.

im not saying that we shouldnt buy another top class striker, all i was acknowledging was the fact we missed eduardo for a majority of last season, when he did get in he lit the goal on fire immediately. it is always nice to have more options up front to cover injury and fatigue but dont be surprised if wenger doesnt give in and arsenal do not purchase a striker
Sell adebayor, wenger still has 20m left over from transfer kitty, buy eto’o, cana + chekma, also he signing loads of lil kids now as well so these should see us through to them. Also think he should make chekma cheaper by trading him for silvestre but tht is not going to happen. Maybe trade senderos for another player from one of the italian teams that seem to be a keen admirer of him.
I’d like to know why the board always say Wenger could spend £30 million on a player, when all we seem to do is sell and then buy on the cheap. I don’t mind if it’s because we are broke, but at least let us know.
I am in firm support that ADEBAYOR EMMANUEL should pls make a move to city after all its not new for players to move for money moreover he should remember that he is an african and so therefore he must have reduced his age with a good number………its time he plays for money cos in my view his career as a striker is going down except he makes a radical u-turn. I would like wenger to sign KLASS as he is really a KLASS striker there is no harm having a full dutch team after all in past n recent years we have had an arsenal team made up of french players. I dont care about his money grabbing or his attitude. If i was in his position i would probably be exactly the same. You’d have to be ‘Cliff Richard’ to not have your head turned by money.
Like him or Loathe him we need him, the guy is a machine in front of goal. His on the field relationship with Cesc is similar to the Gerrard / Torres partnership. How often has Adebayor buried one of Cesc’s quarterback creations. Say what you like but they know how to play together.
Also with the exception of Gallas (another marmite player people love to loathe) -Ade is the only goalscoring aerial threat we possess.
I for one hope he stays.

This Klaas guy, is unproven in my eyes. Dirk Kuyt, Kezman, Alves all excelled in the Dutch league but didnt cut it in the Premiership. Not saying he won’t cut it, just saying he’s a gamble. Besides pointless talking about him as its not Wengers style to buy expensive players.
And as for the Chamack guy, he wont be a straight replacement. If hes’ brought and used as a squad player. Leaving the likes of Bendtnar, Vela, Eduardo maybe even Walcott to rise to the challenge.
