Huntelaar Wants Arsenal; Will They Bite?

As expected, talks between Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Stuttgart have stalled. Simply put, he doesn’t want to go to Germany. It looks as though Stuttgart is the second to last place Klaas wants to be next season (the Real Madrid bench being the last). They did have a good season last year as they will now be taking part in the new qualifying round of the Champions League next month. But it is hardly a secret that the Bundesliga has fallen in quality over the years. Former world heavyweight Bayern have reduced themselves to a side that would find it difficult to finish in the top 6 of the premier league. This being said, Huntelaar is looking for other options to emerge, and it looks like they have. According to the Guardian, Arsenal and Tottenham have begun to make preliminary moves towards acquiring Huntelaar. And, were these two clubs to start competing for his signature, it could get interesting…

Tottenham would surely offer more money to Real than Arsenal, but obviously the fees are irrelevant as long as Real accept both. Spurs will also offer higher wages to Huntelaar, as well as more competition for a starting spot, competing with the likes of Roman Pavlyuchenko, Robbie Keane, Jermaine Defoe and Darren Bent. But the heavy competition will decrease interest from the striker as he has already had his taste of high-pay, low-play action. Huntelaar has not made a secret of his admiration for Arsenal in the past, citing his desire to link up with fellow countryman Robin van Persie. For Arsenal it is all about the price, which it is believed would have to be around £16.5m to get an approval from Los Merengues. We know that Arsenal has at least that much to spend, as even if they were to pay that fee, they’d still be in the black for the summer, which is a truly astounding insight into the kind of summer the Gunners have had.

Bottom line: If both clubs have offers accepted by Real (a big if), Huntelaar will sign with Arsenal. Wenger will offer him around £65 k/w and Huntelaar will probably take it after having seen a ‘what could have been’ scenario at the Bernebeu for the past 5 monthts. And like a bad dream it’ll end soon for Klaas. The question is, who will wake him up?

Huntelaar will prefer Arsenal even for a lower fee not because he can get playing time but because Arsenal is far the bigger club.

Spurs didn’t even qualify for the European league and Huntelaar will prefer getting the limelight playing for the Arsenal.

Spurs can’t compete with Arsenal for players; if we want him, we’ll get him period.

Say it as it is instead of hiding behind diplomacy.

We want Klaas-Jam Huntelaar. And we want him NOW!!!!

I haven’t seen one single piece of evidence that Arsene Wenger actually wants Huntelaar. There are hundreds of articles which say so but no reliable source at all.
There is, however, strong indications that Wenger isn’t going to sign Huntelaar because he prefers “another type of striker”: http://sport.fok.nl/sport/nieuws/67343
It’s also certain that Wenger told VfB Stuttgart’s sporting director, Horst Heldt, that he didn’t have much of an interest in the Dutch striker. That was, however, prior to Adebayors move to Manchester City.

Spurs can’t compete with Arsenal on wages. We have already offered him the same as what he is on at Madrid and Spurs cant go that high.

Sorry, it should have said: “There are, however, strong indications”…
Here’s the link to Horst Heldt’s claim that Wenger “doesn’t have a strong interest in Huntelaar”: http://www.sueddeutsche.de/sport/893/481365/text/

Good point Jan, its also possible that Wenger said that to Horst Heldt as some sort of deception tactic? That’d be funny. After all, Wenger isn’t always what he seems. With the funds at his disposal, he has to be coniving sometimes just to get things done.

I think we should go for Villa. Valencia are desperate to sell him as they need the money. And no one else seem to have gone for him other than Barca who now have Ibrahimovic

thanks jan for the info, but how in the hell I’m I supposed to read what’s in the link, when it’s written in german, please do us all a favour and translate.

Mez, as I already mentioned, Wenger told Horst Heldt – before the Adebayor transfer – that Arsenal didn’t have a “strong interest in Huntelaar”. I’ve seen another article in which the term was “no thorough interest” (kein ausgeprägtes Interesse). The rest of the article is of no relevance.
I think it’s safe to presume that Wenger actually did say what Heldt claims he told him.

Guys comment on my other post regarding your preferred Arsenal team if everyone were healthy!

http://www.downswinging.com/wordpress/2009/07/the-perfect-eleven-arsenal/

well it on skysports news that we are about to launch a bid for the hunter lol i hope we get him i really do man i hate transfer windows i seem to neglect all else

Jan, that could have been before Tottenham was interested in Huntelaar, if we let Huntelaar go to Tottenham then i can see many fans and even players like RVP be pretty angry at Wenger.

Do you have personal issue with the Bundesliga? Your first paragraph tells more about you than about Huntelaar’s motivation. Stuttgart couldn’t pay the £98 k/w Huntelaar earned at Madrid and Real refused to compensate Huntelaar for the decreased income…Let’s see whether Arsenal will pay that kind of money.

get him, what more better person can you replace a with then a goal scoring machine. villa is not tall i dont think we need to add more migits to the team, huntelaar is pretty tall, he will be good addition not to mention him and rvp may build a strong partnership. with nasri out put huntelaar in the middle, rvp on the left and arshavin on the right. that is a threatning attack force and not a one man goal scoring team, who needs 7 tap ins to score 1 (who is ade??forgotten already?)

Lets stop living in a fantasy. Wenger ain’t getting no klass, he’d rather go 4 cheap ass strikers in d light of Martins n Chamakh. As much as i want klass. It ain’t happening!

AW wont pay what they are asking for, end of story.

i know he will sign in4that big club&i think once they get me it will be glory4the premiership arsenal will get the league cup

I feel Wenger should buy Klaas, Hangeland and defensive midfielder… d dividends would be beyond our own imagination

Now with Ade gone I guess Arsene has about 35 million in his back pocket…
So with that he MUST firstly get a defensive midfielder i.e Lorik Cana or Miguel Veleso. Then comes the need for a partner for Van Persie. Huntelaar scores goals, bottom line… but otherwise similar to Van Persie. The other striker is Andre-Pierre Gignac, which I’ve heard lots about. I watched a few videos of him, very good and a natural goalscorer. But at a price of 18 million, its a 50/50. Lastly but just as important a striker… a tall defender and Brede Hangeland and Naldo from Werder Bremen fit the job perfectly. If Arsene bought one for me it would be Vermaelen and Hangeland or Vermaelen and Naldo at the back. Then a X1 capable of winning the triple would be:

Van Persie Gignac
Arshavin Fabregas Rosicky
Veloso
Clichy Naldo Vermaelen Sagna
Almunia

The great thing about the attacking players is that it can be rotated, Eduardo for Gignac … Walcott for Rosicky … Arshavin for Nasri … Fabregas for Ramsey … Van Persie for Vela. As for the defence keep Gallas, Djourou and Fabianski as back-ups as much as they may not like it. Oh and keep the priceless Kieran Gibbs. Otherwise sell Bendtner to AC Milan, Toure to City, Eboue to Fiorentina and possibly Song although he could be a future Arsenal midfielder. I can tell you now forget about buying Villa from Valencia and Ribery from Bayern. Together they would cost about 120 million! Like Arsenal would spend that.

Trust me this would work.

its a secret talk of huntelaar ,he tells secretly that he want to play for arsenal,so wenger have to buy him.

I want to play for Arsenal

Van Persi, Cesc, Arshavin and Huntellaar. Oh my god. Would we be dangerous or what!

I wil be disappointed if at the end of all transfer, wenger did not sign this man.We really need him and he’s ready and willing to come over.Pls i need som1 to advice wenger.

Madrid-based sports newspaper, AS, reports today that “no offer from the Gunners has arrived at the Bernabeu: http://www.as.com/futbol/articulo/futbol-ha-ido-holandeses/dasftb/20090725dasdaiftb_11/Tes

AW will make a real deal at last i believe , ‘HUNT’ is for the GUNNERS, welcome to youngsters,a collage of soccer.

why are ppl talking about huntelaar id rather us go for m.diarra he is class cdm and would be cheap, if we could sign hunterlaar after the great but i cant see that happening unless real will let him go for 15 million. aw will only do whats best for our club REMEMBER THAT!!!

What Wenger are you talking abt? He would not buy Jesus himself even if heaven accepted 250k and no salary! Am suspecting he’s also keen on selling fans to Man City! But maybe…just maybe… he has something that will stun gooners…i pray!
