Minaya Not Surrendering Season

omarminayaAccording to the New York Post, Omar Minaya has said that the Mets will not be sellers heading into the July 31 trade deadline, and are looking for ways to improve the club via trades. I am certainly not alone in thinking that Minaya is crazy here. At the time of this writing, the Mets are nine and a half games out in the division, and in 9th place and seven back in the wild card. I admire the man’s determination, but you gotta learn when to throw in the towel. While this may be good for my predictions earlier this season, this cannot be good for the Mets future. If they do indeed make trades, it will almost inevitably as end up as in a futile attempt to make the playoffs, and team’s future will probably be put in jeopardy.

Now, Minaya saying this and actually adding parts are completely different things. But the fact is that this team has failed because of injuries mostly (and Luis Castillo dropping a pop-up) so it isn’t like they’re in a terrible position for next year. To be honest, I highly doubt the Mets will act on Minaya’s word, but still, it could happen.

I’m not a Mets fan, but I know some of our readers are. Mets fan or not, I’d love to hear someone justify this to me, or simply vent their frustration as one more problem with the Mets.

At this point in the 2005 season the Astros were 12 out of the Division and 9 out of the wildcard then they became NL Champs for the first time in franchise history…but dont get me wrong Minaya is nuts.

Come the end of September, you will eat your words Seth Walder.
