Sorry, maybe I should have been clearer. Tiger certainly can set expectations for himself, but we should be able to as well. When you set expectations you decide what will be considered successful and what won't, and I think us, the fans and the media, should choose what when we think Tiger succeeds or fails. Tiger can do that to, but the media should do it independent of what he thinks.

and sorry i wasn't clearer above, but what do you mean in your title when you say 'tiger shouldn't get to set expectations'? surely he can set the expectations for himself, so that morons like me and the press understand where he thinks he is in his game/what is acceptable for him etc etc. and then obviously it's up to us if we read this story/report or not.

i mean i think the question is valid: tiger or anyone else? he's just that good. so good, that harrington probably has a self-imposed asterix on his two open wins because he won without tiger. or at least he should. and tiger expects to win every tourney he enters. he's tiger woods. he won the us open on one leg in an 18 hole playoff in the best sporting display ever in my opinion. he expects to win. and he probably will. he's won something like 30% of tourneys he's been in since coming back from injury. i guess they just talk about tiger because like you said, he IS golf. nobody touches him. go on, be a tiger.
