Who does everyone think made the best play at the trade deadline?
I'll start us off, though I doubt this will be a popular answer: I say the Pirates getting Tim Alderson, a highly ranked prospect (#26 by Keith Law) for the injury-prone Freddy Sanchez. There are plenty of deals out there that you could see, but it just seems to me the the Pirates got a great return when everyone knew they were selling no matter what.

NO DOUBT ABOUT IT: its the Grabow and Gorzo for Hart, Ascanio and Harrison trade. Got 2 solid lefties, one for the pen, the other to fill in the rotation while Lilly is out. Gorzelanny pitched very well today against the reds, while Grabow can help Marshall deal with those lefty hitters.
The Cubs are set now in the central.
Game, set, match, Bitch.

'twas a sarcastic remark my friend…its a solid deal, since marshall cannot be the sole lefty workin out the pen, but its not quite the team-changer i was hoping for. (cough a decent second basemen like roberts or sanchez to replace fonteNOT cough)…
but honestly, i feel the best deal happened a few weeks before the actual deadline: the cards getting DeRosa. Everyone else is discovering what the cubs knew years ago when they signed him: the man is a f*cking ballplayer. I would shave my head, sell my family into slavery, etc, to get him back on the cubbies. Lord knows I miss him even more when i am forced to see Milton “I hit for ZERO power because I can only walk or strike out looking in an at-bat” Bradley attempt to play right field daily…sigh…
